Functional Medicine

Many unique variables are at play within each person’s disease. For instance, depression can have multiple root causes, including systemic inflammation in the body. And inflammation can cause many symptoms, including depression.

The art and science of functional medicine is to identify the unique combination of genetics, environment and lifestyle and to treat each person’s root cause uniquely and successfully.

When working with me, you can expect to feel seen and heard. We take a deep, thorough look at your genetics, inner and outer environment, as well as your lifestyle to get to the underlying cause of symptoms and disharmony. Patients typically say they’ve never had such a detailed intake with a health care provider. We dive into your family and personal history, your environmental exposures, and other healthcare providers you’re working with.

You are encouraged to actively participate in your health by collaborating on your care plan.

ACupuncture

Acupuncture reminds your body how to rest and restore, facilitating the “rest and digest” response where healing occurs.

Acupuncture is magical, but it isn’t magic.

To get the most from your acupuncture treatments, you’ll make commitments and changes. You’ll cultivate patience with yourself and your healing. I’m here to support you as you go.

Healing is cyclical; there’s no destination and there’s no timeline. I’m a lifetime patient of this medicine. I receive acupuncture treatments regularly but I turn to it more frequently when my body is in pain or when my mental and/or emotional health need support due to challenging life events.

We will discuss the most common pain patterns seen in the clinic: neck, shoulders, back, sacrum and extremities.

At the end of the workshop, each participant will be able to create and implement a safe, professional acupressure session for the treatment of client pain.

Class is open to anyone interested in learning the building blocks of Chinese Medicine and how to use acupressure for themselves and others.
